Celio Redfly Now Compatible With WinMo 6.1 and More Devices

RedflyWithPhone_small Celio has announced that the Redfly is now compatible with Windows Mobile 6.1 and 12 other devices. The more I read about the Celio Redfly the more I like the idea of having a small laptop clone that is an extension of my Tilt. Web surfing is awesome as it shows full screen instead of having to zoom in and out. And with the power of the Tilt/TyTN II, you won’t be hurting to get your work done on the road either. I would love to see how excel works on the Redfly as I use excel almost daily on my Laptop. My only problem is the 500 dollar price tag. What do you think about the Redfly? Is there anyone out there using one or planning on buying one?

Not interested on the RedFly at $500. Would rather get an HP Mini since it’s around the same price range. There are a few options right now in the market with full capabilities at this price, so buying a device that cannot work on its own merit would not make any sense to me. If the cost was $300, than it would force me to give it a second look.

    2 Questions:
    1) Does the thing allow for display (tiling) of multiple windows?
    2) Do all WM 6 apps allow for larger screen resolutions?

I have not tested one myself, but according to the information I have from the testing unit that was going around prior to the finished product being released, it does not allow for tabs on a start menu (similar to the start bar in Windows), but the programs keep running in the background just like on your Tilt, and most applications change smoothly to the larger screen with some exceptions, specially for third party applications. I would be curious to find out if GPS navigation works well on the screen since that would make an awefully nice and large GPS screen! Too bad is not a passive digitizer…

Yes, it does do GPS. Also, I hear they are coming out with a $300 unit in the 4Q!!!

Why would they come out with a lower price point than the 500 bones they are wanting to charge enterprise customers? Will the device be different? I can’t imagine them stripping down anything that doesn’t have anything to begin with! All of their enterprise customers will be furious and just end up buying the 300 dollar version.
